June 14, 2013 (Sarasota, Fl)On June 11, 2013, Chris Laney of Digital Frontiers Media moderated a panel discussion with some of the digital industry’s leading technology professionals in the community. The event was sponsored by Digital Frontiers Media and ROBRADY design, and hosted by Sarasota Young Professionals and the Sarasota Chamber University. It took place at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Sarasota and included approximately 75 attendees. The panel included Rob Brady (ROBRADY design), Danny Watts (atLarge, Inc.), Stan Schultes (Sun Hydraulics) and Malcolm Teas (Voalte).

During the discussion, panelists were asked a series of questions, including the use of technology internally at their company, the effects of cloud computing, client relations, and the future of technology. Chris Laney offered his own insight including the latest announcement from Apple that included in-browser editing of Microsoft documents and jokingly offered Danny Watts from atLarge, Inc. a great solution on project management software.

Chris Laney organized the event as “Technology Chair” for the Sarasota Young Professionals Board of Directors. “Technology is rapidly changing. I was hoping to have a discussion on ways that companies, no matter what industry they’re in, could benefit from the latest in technology.” says Laney. In addition to organizing the event, Laney has been working on community projects through the use of technology. One project includes a digital transportation application that would track the SCAT bus lines and add convenience to local and visiting travelers. It would also increase the revenue stream for the transportation industry in Sarasota.
