Sarasota, FL (PRWEB) June 16, 2014–Chris Laney, director of client experience for Sarasota-based boostDFM, was named Young Professional of the Year at the Frank G. Berlin, Sr. Small Business Awards Luncheon. The event, sponsored by the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, was held at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota before a crowd of 500 business and community leaders.
Laney garnered the award in recognition of his work with the award-winning digital marketing agency, boostDFM, as well as with the Sarasota Young Professionals Group where he serves as chair-elect. Under his leadership, the group, which boasts over 450 members, is organizing events designed to support and encourage business development in Sarasota.
This past April, Laney also launched the inaugural State of Jobs conference. This conference fostered a dialogue between hundreds of high school and college students and young professionals about how to stop the flight of talented young people from Southwest Florida.
“I’m humbled to be named Sarasota’s Young Professional of the Year,” said Laney. “Just being considered among nominees of such high caliber was an honor in itself.”
To be eligible for the award, a member of the Sarasota-Bradenton business community had to nominate Laney. Next, he completed a lengthy application and interview process to become one of three finalists. Final selection was announced at the luncheon.
